East Beast – Chapter Tree: The Dragon Gate

The Jingle repeats before every chapter.

From the West he wandered, yet his heart beat East.
Born of love, tempered by loss, scarred by betrayal.
He has walked through beauty and shadow,
tasted joy and sorrow,
breathed the scent of both life and death.
And when the weight grew too heavy,
he turned away from the chasing herd –
and set his paws toward the Rising Sun.
Toward the place he believes the Sun is born…
and were, perhaps, he might finally find a home.

For he is the East Beast –
a spirit untamed,
forever walking between worlds.

Part One – The Gift of the Eagle

Night after night, Wolf and Bear walked beneath a slow turning sky. They moved from oasis to sacred stone, from hidden groves to sleeping creatures, keeping the daylight for the people and the dark for themselves. Bear could not match the wolf’s pace; his heavy shoulders took longer to warm to the road. Wolf faced a choice: run ahead alone toward the goal that pulled him east or slow his stride and learn the music of journeying with a friend.

By that time, he already understood…

Rhythm was everywhere – in the river’s steady passage, in the wind’s patient carving of cliffs, in the way a steep climb always ended with an easy descent. Behind every harsh ridge there waited a valley. After every burning plain there rose an oasis. Wolf felt something change in him as he stepped beside Bear: the journey itself became a teacher, and companionship made its lessons gentle.

He paused, feeling the pulse of the forest, and made his choice: he would slow his pace and stay by his friend’s side.

One evening, as they skirted a line of tents where people had gathered for a feast, an eagle’s cry cut the dark like a blade. Wolf lifted his head. The sound was high and sorrowed, not the free music of a hunting bird, but the trapped note of something robbed of sky. They drew closer and saw what the keen ears had told them – an eagle hung in a cage, swung from a high branch above the campfire ring.

The cage hung too high for Wolf’s reach. The people laughter and clatter told them that the villagers were celebrating and would soon fall asleep. So, they waited in the shadowed brush until the embers cooled, and the voices thinned. When the hamlet finally sank, Wolf crept into the circle like a reed bending in wind. He peered up: the eagle’s wings were folded tight; his eyes were wild with question.

Wolf couldn’t reach the cage so, he called softly for Bear. The great animal came close and, with a careful, gentle press of his massive paws, lowered the trembling branch until the cage brushed the earth. Wolf moved forward with reverence, paw on latch, breath held like prayer. The door opened.

The eagle’s chest heaved; for a moment the bird merely stared into the night, tasting wind that had been denied.

Before Wolf could speak, the eagle bent his noble head and, in a voice that was more sky than throat, whispered: “Thank you, spirit of the forest, you have untied my wings. From the heights I see far and wide. From this day forth I will be your higher voice. When clouds hide the path, I will cry. When spirits waver, I will sing. Your steps shall be watched from above.”

Wolf felt warmth bloom in his chest, a warm recognition of kinship. Bear huffed softly, pleased in his slow, honest way. The eagle rose, circled once in a ribbon of moonlight, and then soared into the heavens, as if reclaiming a lost place. His cry spread out across the land like a blessing, and Wolf and Bear, already moving east, heard it ring overhead as a clear promise.

As they walked on, the lesson they had learned became obvious to them: The eagle’s freedom had been won not by force but by compassion and skill. They understood that every being has its place and its pledge. Some hearts, like the eagle’s, belong above – to vision, to the higher song – and when freed, they lift every foot that walks beneath them.

Farther along the road the dawn picked the horizon clean. The eagle’s cry became for Wolf a map in the sky, a voice to follow when the land below blurred. Together, Wolf, Bear and Eagle moved into the light – one foot in the earth, one eye on the heights – their rhythm a new kind of power: steady, shared, and watched from above.

Part Two – The Gift of the Owl

Days passed as Wolf and Bear journeyed together, their new companion soaring high above. Eagle’s shadow was a silent reminder that they were never alone. One dawn, Eagle circled down and gave a message carried on the wind:

“You can keep moving straight toward the rising Sun. But ahead lies many human settlements. Or… you can veer northward, where the path climbs into harsh mountains, steep and cold. The choice is yours.”

Wolf’s eyes lit with resolve. “Better to face the raw force of the mountain than the unpredictable ways of humans.”
Bear smiled at his brother’s decision. “Yes, free spirit. Nature may be harsh, but it is honest. The mountain may test our bodies, but not betray our trust.”

So they turned northward.

The journey became heavier, the air thinner, and the nights colder. Yet in this realm of rock and snow, Bear’s great strength and thick coat proved an anchor.

At one jagged peak, they made camp, resting beneath the stars.

That night, a White Owl descended silently, wings glowing pale in the moonlight. His eyes shone like lanterns in the dark as he bowed his head.

“You are special guests on my mountain,” the Owl said, voice deep and solemn. “Here, no paw nor foot has pressed before. But before I speak further – what brings you here?”

Wolf lifted his head and told the Owl his story: The Owl listened in silence, his golden eyes steady, his wings tucked close.

At last, the Owl spoke again. “Because you are honoured, I will give you, my gift. You see, I can pierce the darkness of night, but also the deeper darkness hidden within things. And I must tell you plainly: Wolf, your plan as you imagine it cannot succeed.

Wolf stiffened. Bear’s ears flicked forward. “What do you mean?”

Owl continued, “The Sun’s gate opens only to humans of pure hearts. Nature has its kingdoms, and each must remain in its own domain. Yet humans are the bridge – they alone can pass through all realms, for they are the key keepers. That is why the Lord of Darkness attacks them, shrouding them in amnesia, binding them to forget who they are.

Wolf and Bear exchanged startled looks, then turned back in unison:
“WHAT?”

Wolf asked: “Did you just say that these creatures can carry pure hearts?”

Bear added: “And no one can reach the Sun’s dwelling unless they stand in human form?”

Owl nodded slowly. “Yes. Life is layered far beyond what your forest eyes have known. Only humans may walk through every layer. But if you insist, there is a way for you, Free Spirit. You need not wait for countless lives to take human form – there is a shorter path. It leads through the Dragon Gate, and only the Crowned Dragon can aid your mission. If you wish to reach the Sun’s home, follow the Eagle’s cry; he will guide you to the entrance.

The Wolf’s heart throbbed with both wonder and unease.

Before leaving, the White Owl bestowed his gift: the vision of night and words of awakening. “May your inner eye be open, Free Spirit. For when the two eyes close, the One Eye sees.” His words echoed through Wolf’s being, etching themselves into his memory.

When Wolf awoke at dawn, he still felt them vibrating within, like a flame between his brows.

Third Eye Affirmation (Gift of the Owl)

“I open the eye beyond sight.
I see truth within shadows.
I trust the vision of the soul.
As above, so it is within me.
As within, so it becomes in the world.”

As dawn broke, the night’s chill released its grip. Wolf stood at the mountain’s edge, his breath curling in the crisp air. He lifted his gaze to the horizon, where the first rays of light painted the sky in gold and rose. For the first time, the Sun did not seem distant or untouchable – it shimmered as though aware of his journey, as though it had drawn itself nearer to greet him. A warmth stirred in Wolf’s chest, a quiet knowing that every step was carrying him closer to the gate of his destiny.

Part Three – The Dragon Gate

On the way down from the mountaintop, Wolf and Bear spoke in the cold morning air. Bear turned to Wolf and asked:

“What is the real reason for your mission? Why do you long to reach the Sun’s home so deeply that you are ready for a painful transformation? Why can’t you just enjoy life as I do? For me, if I have a meal and a quiet place to rest, I am content. I don’t need more than that. So why chase this dream?”

Wolf’s eyes glowed softly as he replied:

“From the small love and faint memories, I carry in my heart – stories from the beginning of my life, told by my father and grandfather – I learned of the ancient dream of chasing the sun by moving west. They said animals have carried this dream for generations, yet none have ever reached it. Then I thought: it doesn’t matter where the sun is going – what I truly want to know is where it comes from. That is why I chose the opposite direction, moving east. And from the very first steps I received signs that I was on the right path. Every day brought a gift. Even you, my great friend – I would never have met you had I stayed with the hyenas. And tell me, who would truly wish to live among hyenas?”

Bear laughed and agreed.

For a while, they neither saw the shadow of Eagle’s wings nor heard his guiding voice. Then suddenly, he appeared above them.

“You are on the right path, my brothers,” Eagle said. “Ahead lies the greatest mountain. Its peak pierces the skies, high above the clouds. There I will wait for you, for the Dragon Gate can only be entered together.”

For many days and nights, Wolf and Bear climbed that mountain, until finally they reached the top. At first, nothing seemed unusual. But when Eagle’s claws touched the ground, a hidden door appeared, shimmering with light.

They entered a crystalline castle. Through its clear walls they could see the whole world, while golden symbols and radiant ornaments reflected the Sun’s rays. The atmosphere was so dreamlike that they nearly fell into sleep – until suddenly, a White Dragon appeared. Its fiery wings lit the chamber with a sacred glow.

They bowed before the Dragon, who spoke:

“Welcome, my friends. You are more than honoured guests in my dwelling. But before I assist you, you must answer my questions. For only through truth can the gate be opened.”

The Dragon’s Three Questions:

  1. “When fear rises before you, do you fight it, flee from it, or look within, to find the hidden light?”
  2. “If given power, will you use it to command others, or to awaken them to their own strength?”
  3. “What is more important: to reach the Sun for yourself, or to bring its light back to those still lost in darkness?”

“Before you answer, behold this trident. Its three prongs are will, knowledge, and action – yet it is one. Just as nature has brought you here, so too must you learn that your paths, though three, converge into one.

Meditate on this, It’s not just a weapon, but a diagram of existence itself. Its three prongs hold the powers that shape all creation:”

  • Will – the spark of intention, the divine urge that sets every journey into motion.
  • Knowledge – the light of awareness, the vision that sees truth and guides the path.
  • Action – the power of manifestation, the movement that turns spirit into form.

“Together, they are the three faces of one reality, the current that drives both Gods and mortals alike. To see this is to glimpse the very structure of life.”

Each companion spoke from the heart:

Eagle answered the first question, Bear the second, and Wolf the third.

The Dragon’s eyes softened as he said: “You have proven yourselves worthy. Now, what brings you here?”

Wolf stepped forward and explained his long journey, repeating also the message of the Owl.

“Yes,” the Dragon replied. “The wise Owl told you the truth. I can help you undergo this transformation – but only if you accept not one, but ten sacred rules. These will be your guiding light, the law you must carry within, for only through peace can you master the fire of your wild nature.”

The Dragon’s Ten Rules of Peace:

  1. Do not fear losing anyone – better to lose them than to lose your peace.
  2. Think for yourself – let no one control or manipulate your mind.
  3. Walk alone if you must – solitude is your strength, not your weakness.
  4. Trust your intuition – it will guide you more truly than the opinions of others.
  5. Never beg for love or validation – your worth is already within you.
  6. Your calm energy may unsettle others – remember, their insecurity is only a reflection of your strength.
  7. Set boundaries with serenity – and enforce them without guilt.
  8. Speak the truth, even if your voice trembles – honesty is your true power.
  9. Do not compete – rise quietly and let your growth speak for itself.
  10. Avoid conflict – walk away from chaos; let peace be your path and your crown.

The Dragon’s voice deepened: “One more thing – since you are the first creatures ever to enter my kingdom, chosen by the force that guided your path here, I must entrust you with a greater task. You must help awaken humanity from its long amnesia. To do this, you must remain in human form even after reaching the Sun’s dwelling. Return to the Earth, live among men, learn their ways. At some point, the dark force will surely test you, and you will fall. Yet when you remember my words and rise again, only then will you awaken others.”

They agreed.

Last words of the Dragon that echoed in Wolf’s head: ‘So be it

At that moment, they looked at one another, and of their own free will – they chose to step forward as one. When they heard, “So be it,” the choice sealed itself. In the heartbeat that followed, Wolf, Bear, and Eagle collapse into a single pole of being. The world around them swirled and folded, memories and sensations intertwining, until they were carried back to the origin of the story.

The mountaintop cracked open beneath, a searing agony of body and spirit, half beast, half human.

The first fracture ripped through his core, then the second, and the third, each echoing through his being. By the fourth, the pain softened, becoming subtle, almost like a distant hum – an awakening rather than a wound. Time, body, and mind blurred into one seamless flow. Then, suddenly, all pain vanished.

A new form stabilized. There sat a human, cross-legged in meditation, utterly still. One by one, his chakras opened – from the heart to the crown. He sank deeper into silence until he could see with his Inner Eye the Sun. And then he realized: the Sun was also within him, shining brilliantly.

As without, so within. As one.

Crown Chakra Affirmation

Sit quietly, as the Wolf did on the mountain peak.
Close your eyes and place your awareness at the top of your head, where the crown opens to the light.

Breathe slowly. With each breath, imagine a radiant violet-white light shining above you, like the Sun itself, descending gently into your crown.

Now whisper within yourself:

“I am one with the Light.
I am one with the Source.
The Sun dwells within me,
as I dwell within the Sun.”

Feel this light expand, connecting sky and earth through your being, until you rest in the knowing: You are never separate – you are the bridge, the gate, the light itself.

The End
